INSY 041: Business Mathematics for Computing
This module introduces undergraduate computing students to mathematical concepts and techniques used in business, information systems, software development, data analysis, finance and technology decision-making. Emphasis is placed on practical problem solving rather than abstract mathematics. Students will work with percentages, ratios, equations, functions, financial mathematics, matrices, statistics, probability, sequences, logarithms, growth models and basic calculus, with applications to computing and business.
COURSE RATIONALE: COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Computing professionals routinely interpret costs, revenues, system performance, data, growth, risk and quantitative requirements. Business Mathematics for Computing provides students with the mathematical foundation required to analyse such problems, build simple quantitative models, interpret results and support evidence-based business and technology decisions.
