Managerial Finance develops the theoretical and practical framework required to understand, analyse and make financial decisions within modern organisations operating in dynamic and competitive market environments. The course equips students with the financial knowledge and analytical tools needed to evaluate how managerial decisions affect organisational performance, risk and value creation.
The course covers the analysis and interpretation of financial statements; financial planning and forecasting; the time value of money; risk and return; valuation of financial and real assets; capital budgeting and investment project appraisal; cost of capital; capital structure and financing decisions; working capital management; dividend and distribution decisions; and the management of financial risk.
The course also introduces relevant models and techniques for the pricing and valuation of financial assets, including debt and equity instruments, as well as an overview of derivative securities and contingent claims. Emphasis is placed on applying financial concepts to real-world managerial decisions, evaluating alternative courses of action, and using financial information to support effective decision-making and sustainable value creation.
