The course studies the historical background of prophecy in Ancient Israel, methods of interpreting the prophetic books of the bible, issues in Ancient Israelite prophecy, problems in the study of pre-writing prophetic figures and the books of writing prophets of the 8^th and early 7^th century BCE. The also course studies the historical background of classical prophecy in Ancient Israel, methods of interpreting the prophetic books of the bible, issues in classical prophecy, problems in the study of pre-exilic, exilic and post-exilic prophetic figures and their books and theories on the collection of prophetic material. Students are also required to make comparisons between pre-classical and classical prophecy
