This is a study of philosophy of education in the context of the African continent. This is done through an exploration of the historical and philosophical foundations in the theory and practice of education.  This course equips participants with a teaching qualification. Key philosophical issues and concepts are introduced. This enables participants to appreciate reflective approaches and arguments as well as applying these to educational problems and issues. The participants are exposed to an exploration of tenets of various schools of thought in philosophy and their contribution to education alongside national development issues
