The purpose of this class is to provide students with a sufficient background in the vocabulary, grammar, and syntax of the Hebrew language to make students proficient in the translation and exegesis of the Hebrew Bible. By the end of this course, the student will:

1.     memorize and recite passages from Hebrew Bible.

2.     know and identify the nouns, adjectives, prepositions, and strong and weak verb forms.

3.     have a sufficient vocabulary to translate selected portions of the Hebrew Bible.

4.     analyze Hebrew words, parse their meaning, and identify their grammatical functions.

5.     recognize and appreciate the value that the Hebrew language makes toward pastoral ministry.
