COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course familiarises students with the basic principles and techniques utilised in the management of an organisation’s workforce. It highlights the strategic role of contemporary human resource management in strengthening competitive advantage and covers the basic HR functions as well as theories and concepts that inform its practice. Topics covered will include the need for human resource management, ethical and legal frameworks for HRM, human resource planning; staffing; employee development; performance management; reward management; employee separation; workplace health, safety and wellbeing; employee relations, HR metrics;  as well as international human resource management and other current issues.
